Wanisan is a 11.0 km out and back trail near North Cooking Lake in Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area. It runs 5.5 km each way. The route gains 121 m in total and tops out at 775 m. Hike Alberta rates it moderate. Allow about 3 hours of moving time. It meets Ed's Way at 2.8 km and Siksika at 5.0 km, and passes three other mapped junctions. At 2.4 km the trail forks. This route keeps left; the right fork is a 0.2 km side branch with the same name. The map also shows a separate section with the same name that is not part of this route. The distance and climb above follow this route only, not its branches. Along the way you pass Wanisan Lake. Also used for trail running and mountain biking.
